Neem Blend Soap or Happy Dog Soap - A select blend of essential oils and ground herbs incorporated in a soap that is suitable for the whole body and handwashing.

Our customers have reported that the soap has been beneficial with skin conditions on their dogs. Mostly this soap has been used in combination with the cocoa honey and shea cream when the skin has been dry.

This same soap blend also used to be called our Happy Dog soap and there are many happy woofers out there to attest to how it has kept their grass allergies or summer itches away.

Here is one of my responses to some questions regarding this soap on our facebook group.

Neem is Ayurvedic, it is a sacred tree in India and they refer to it as "the village pharmacy". Every part of the plant is used, properties of Neem compounds are Anti-inflammatory, Antiarthritic, Antipyretic, Hypoglycaemic, Spermicidal, Antifungal, Antibacterial, Diuretic, Antimalarial, Antitumour.

Yes neem does stink or have a pungent aroma, it is a green kind of smell but it is one of those things you have to smell to recognise it. Neem straight in concentrated form stinks, it is a pungent odour and does take some getting used to. I find if you think on the positive benefits of the oil it helps over come the smell, some use it straight on things like warts and sunspots with great results. When weakened down some have described it as a nutty peanut butter with garlic all together.

With the soap I make there have been reports from people that it is the only thing that works on their dog's grass allergies and itch. Others it works to help keep fleas at bay, I usually suggest they also get neem oil and lemongrass in hot water and spray the area near the dog's sleeping quarters to keep the flea population at bay, also lime as in concrete lime helps with major flea infestations.

I have brought the soap into the gourmet range as there are a lot of my customers out there who just can't do without it. For me personally neem is very precious and we are lucky to have such a fantastic botanical plant amongst our arsenal to help with many things, not only medical but agricultural.

Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide: Please note we only use the normal grade in these products. We do not use nano particle grade, there has been some concern of late regarding some products being manufactured at nano particle size, mainly sunscreens. What this means is the nano particle size is potentially able to transfer through the dermal barrier on our skin and therefore enter the body. This is why the usage of these ingredients is of concern to a lot of people.
